Fitness Column 6 - New Year Resolutions!

Type ‘New Years Resolution’ in to google and this is what you’ll find;

New Year's resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western Hemisphere but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behaviour, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life.

What it doesn’t state is most people make these resolutions and break them with in the first month of committing to this new way of life!

The question is, are you one of these people?

In the fitness industry, I see a big interest in health and fitness take place in January, which more commonly then not isn’t followed up in the months shortly after.

We all have these amazing thoughts of how we’re going to give up smoking, lose weight and get fit but what do we actually put in to place to make this happen?

Give up smoking cold turkey, Join a gym, then what?

When setting yourself a new years resolution, give yourself a chance and set yourself a goal.

So if you’re planning on quitting smoking, look to cut down weekly before actually cutting them right out.

If you’re planning on becoming healthier and fitter, seek help and advice from a professional who you can discuss your goals with and put a plan of action together.

Talk about your diet, your current exercise regimes and what sports you like to do and see where you can incorporate the lot.

If joining a gym isn’t for you but you’d still like the perks of a gym, then send me a message regarding my NEW Functional Fitness Suite based at CBC, Thetford.  We hold classes from Circuits and Tabata to Boxercise and Core. Private Hire is also available if you’d like to rent space to train by yourself or with a friend, as well as Personal Training.

Good luck with your New Years Resolution, no matter what it is, give yourself a fighting chance and plan ahead!
